Cheese
Cheese is a great, calcium-rich snack to keep around your home. While any kind of cheese will do, we suggest cubed cheese, string cheese, or sliced cheese for your ultimate snacking convenience. Because cheese is full of calcium, this means that it will directly benefit the strength of your teeth and jawbone. Additionally, it’s a great snack for the kids as their dental health needs calcium to ensure proper development. Cheese is also a great snack for our patients with jaw pain or TMJ disorders because it is soft and easy to chew.
Fruit Smoothies
Fruit smoothies are fun to make, delicious to drink, and great for your teeth too. You can include any kind of fruit or veggie into your smoothie to personalize it to your taste; however, we do have some suggestions. Include a banana in your smoothie to increase the amount of potassium in it. Potassium is essential to your dental health because it reduces the acidity of your blood and makes sure your bones maintain their calcium amounts. You can also include kiwis and strawberries which are great sources of calcium and vitamin C.
Assorted Nuts
Almonds, walnuts, and cashews are among some of the best nuts to snack on for your dental health. They contain essential vitamins and minerals that help maintain your dental health. Additionally, nuts help encourage saliva production which your mouth needs to remain moist and capable of washing away harmful residues left behind by previous meals. However, if you are experiencing jaw pain, make sure to avoid crunchy snacks like this one and stick to softer snacks until the discomfort subsides.
